We were contacted after hours by a client who's system was really struggling. We were able to send our tech out shortly after, diagnosing his system with a leak in the evaporative coil which is located inside the air handler. This problem had a big effect on the system, making it very difficult for the system to keep cool. Our client ran a possibility of the evaporative coil freezing over. Once that freezes over, you're more likely to bring back more liquid to the compressor which can cause quite a bit of damage! Luckily, our tech found the problem before it got worse.
Once we located a new air handler, our tech took it to our client's residence. He pulled the refrigerant into the condenser, replaced the existing air handler with a brand new one, modified the duct work to ensure proper air flow, and replaced the dual run capacitor for the condenser. After topping of the refrigerant levels, our client's system was good to go, keeping his house nice and cool.
